About the client — Schindler India

Schindler India, a subsidiary of the global Schindler Group, is a leading manufacturer and service provider of elevators, escalators and mobility solutions. With a large operational footprint and a multi-site workforce, Schindler upholds the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational excellence across all its field and plant environments. In a business where technicians work at height, in shafts and on live equipment every day, permit-to-work governance is not administrative overhead — it is the operational backbone of keeping people safe.

Safety first, across every field and plant environment.

The business challenge

Paper permits and fragmented EHS systems, across a multi-site operation.

Schindler India faced significant challenges managing work permits and EHS compliance across its multi-site operations. Manual safety workflows led to delays in permit approvals, non-standardised documentation and poor visibility across job sites, while paper-based processes slowed permit lifecycles from creation to closure and increased the risk of human error. Fragmented EHS communication between departments created audit gaps and reduced compliance traceability.

Two further gaps compounded the operational ones: a lack of real-time monitoring limited management's ability to proactively track unsafe acts, near-miss incidents and field safety compliance, and contractor onboarding and document verification required extensive manual coordination — creating inefficiencies and delaying mobilisation to site.

What Triazine Software built

Permits, contractors and incidents — one governed digital ecosystem.

Triazine Software built a unified Work Permit and EHS platform for Schindler India — full-lifecycle permit digitisation with JSA at the gate, digital contractor verification and geo-tagged unsafe-event reporting.

Permit digitisation with safety analysis built into the gate

The full permit lifecycle — creation, approval, extension, sub-permit handling and closure — runs through automated digital workflows. Integrated Job Safety Analysis ensures every permit is validated against pre-defined safety checklists and hazard assessments before it can proceed, and the L1–L5 hierarchical approval process routes each permit through configurable workflows with accountability at every level and SLA-based escalation notifications when approvals stall.

  • Full lifecycle digitised — creation, approval, extension, sub-permits and closure
  • JSA at the gate — every permit validated against safety checklists and hazard assessments
  • L1–L5 approvals — configurable hierarchy with SLA-based escalation notifications

Contractors verified before the gate, incidents reported from anywhere

A unified contractor onboarding workflow digitises document verification by the EHS and Legal teams, with automated expiry tracking and compliance status alerts — so contractors arrive at site already verified rather than waiting on manual coordination. In parallel, a web-based incident and unsafe-event reporting utility lets employees and external users instantly report near misses, unsafe conditions or injuries, with geo-tagged data placing every report at its exact location.

  • EHS + Legal verification — digital document checks with automated expiry tracking and alerts
  • Compliance before mobilisation — contractors verified before they reach the gate
  • Geo-tagged UE reporting — near misses, unsafe conditions and injuries, reportable by anyone, instantly

One dashboard, every KPI, an audit trail that never sleeps

A centralised dashboard gives management real-time analytics across permit status, incident trends, department-wise safety scores and compliance indicators — the proactive EHS visibility that manual systems could never provide. Cloud-based infrastructure delivers secure, scalable access across business units and sites, and a multi-level audit trail with timestamped logs and document versioning supports both statutory and internal audit requirements out of the box.

  • Real-time EHS analytics — permits, incidents, department safety scores and compliance KPIs
  • Cloud-enabled access — secure and scalable across every business unit and site
  • Audit-native records — timestamped logs and document versioning for statutory and internal audits

Less Audit Preparation — data via structured dashboards

For safety operations

Permit approval turnaround fell by 70% within the first six months, with every permit validated against Job Safety Analysis checklists before execution — ensuring every job runs under verified safety conditions. Proactive safety reporting increased significantly, with geo-tagged unsafe-event reports driving measurable improvement in incident response and closure rates across sites.

For compliance and management

The platform delivers 100% digital traceability of work permits, incidents and contractor documents across all operational sites, with enhanced compliance visibility letting management monitor EHS KPIs across departments and locations in real time. Contractor onboarding accelerated by 60%, and audit preparation time halved — every safety record, approval and incident closure digitally timestamped and instantly retrievable for internal and statutory audits.

Enterprise security & compliance

Audit-native by design, governed at every level.

An EHS system of record carries obligations beyond uptime: every permit decision, safety validation, contractor credential and incident closure must be attributable, timestamped and retrievable — for internal governance and for statutory audit. The Schindler platform was built with those obligations as architecture, not afterthought.

Multi-level audit trails with document versioning underpin every workflow; contractor credentials pass formal EHS and Legal verification with automated expiry tracking; the L1–L5 approval hierarchy makes accountability explicit at every level; and cloud infrastructure provides secure, scalable access across business units and sites. Triazine Software's delivery processes are governed by CMMI Level 3 certification.

Accountability

L1–L5 hierarchical approvals — every decision attributable to a named level, with SLA-based escalation.

Safety Governance

Mandatory JSA validation — no permit proceeds without checklist and hazard-assessment sign-off.

Credential Compliance

Contractor documents verified by EHS and Legal teams, with automated expiry tracking and status alerts.

Auditability

Timestamped logs and document versioning across permits, incidents and closures — statutory and internal audit-ready, with audit preparation time halved.

Delivery Governance

Cloud-secured multi-site access; Triazine delivery processes certified to CMMI Level 3.

Compliance-ready foundation

EHS governance, audit trail and safety accountability built into the platform from the start — not configured after delivery.

  • L1–L5 — Named accountability: hierarchical approvals with SLA escalation at every level
  • JSA — Mandatory safety gate: no permit proceeds without checklist and hazard assessment
  • Audit — Timestamped records: document versioning across permits, incidents and closures
  • CMMI L3 — Enterprise delivery: disciplined development, quality assurance and governance

Rather than treating compliance as a checklist, Triazine incorporated EHS governance, audit trail and safety accountability requirements into the Schindler platform from the start. The same permit to work and EHS capability — proven across Schindler India, Indraprastha Gas and Aavantika Gas — is available as a configurable enterprise product through PrimeEHSTM.

Beyond go-live

A standardised framework built for what comes next.

The transformation aligns with Schindler's long-term EHS goals: a scalable, standardised safety framework that supports predictive analytics, proactive risk management and a culture of continuous EHS improvement. What began as the digitisation of paper permits is now the single digital ecosystem through which Schindler India manages work permits, contractor compliance and safety operations — efficiently and transparently.

  • Discovery

Paper permits, fragmented EHS systems and manual contractor verification across multi-site operations

  • Design & deployment

Permits, JSA, L1–L5 approvals, onboarding and UE reporting unified on one cloud platform

  • First six months

Permit turnaround down 70%; contractor onboarding 60% faster

  • Steady state

100% digital traceability; audit preparation time halved; EHS KPIs monitored in real time

  • Forward
